Positive Patriot begins with us proudly introducing you to Sergeant Jay Kelly Fain Jr. (RET) who is a Combat Wounded War-fighter that served in the United States Army. Jay served from 2005-2008 and was wounded in June of 2007. The day was June 26th, 2007 when Jay was headed to Camp Taji with another platoon. Jay was heading to Camp Taji process out for R&R and head home for a couple weeks. Along the way, the Humvee he was traveling hit an IED/EFP. Jay suffered many injuries such as shrapnel wounds, third degree burns and eventually the amputation of his right leg, all the way up to his hip.
Getting to know Jay and learning more about his story, we couldn't have asked for a more deserving person to be our first Positive Patriot recipient. Overcoming the struggle that comes with adjusting to a new way of life from his injuries, Jay decided that this new chapter in life wouldn't be his defining chapter. Jay was outfitted with several prosthetic devices and in less than a year, after his arrival to the Center for the Intrepid, he was walking freely and independently. Jay was medically retired from the United States Army in 2008.
Many of those that are closest to Jay will say that he is inspiring, well-natured, fun, and ultimately a loving man. Jay now enjoys traveling, public speaking, and playing golf. He is a self-taught golfer, having competed in many golf tournaments including the Warrior Open hosted by President Bush, 43rd. His portrait hangs in the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, being painted by President Bush, 43; during his treatment and recovery. Jay now lives in Austin, Texas with his dog Soonee. He works at Rogue American Apparel as the Director of Operations over Disciples of Iron
It was an honor to serve and support Jay for all that he has given and all he continues to do. Stories like Jay's are the very reasons Positive Patriot was founded and what motivates us to serve as many people as we can. Allowing our customers to be apart of something that impacts military veterans and single parents within their community is something that we truly cherish.
Jay thank you again and know we've got your six!
